Ingenieur Automatic Carbon Performance Ceramic

The IWC Ingenieur collection’s close bond with car racing is embodied by its newest arrival with features specific to racing cars and race courses in general. Its carbon-coated dial has white indices, a 46mm case, screw-down crown, crown cover and black ceramic bezel. The bright green on the minute track on the black chapter ring, tip of the large central seconds hand and stitching on the strap reflects the lateral stripes on the tyres used in wet weather. A self-winding mechanical movement with integrated shock-absorption system purrs beneath the Ingenieur Automatic Carbon Performance Ceramic’s “bonnet” and brings to life the hour, minute and second functions in the centre and the date display at 3 o’ clock.  The calibre’s power reserve lasts approximately 44 hours. The timepiece is limited to 1000 watches. Price: 21,600 CHF

Radiomir 1940 Chronograph

71 years after designing its first chronograph, Officine Panerai presents three pieces forged out of precious metals whose design is heavily inspired by the Florentine watchmaker’s 1940s models. Whether the 45mm cushion-shaped case is in white gold, rose gold or platinum, each model is limited to 100 watches. On the platinum version, the ivory dial features luminescent indices and markers beneath hour and minute hands, small seconds at 9 o’ clock, chronograph seconds in the middle and the 30-minute counter at 3 o’ clock plus a tachymeter scale around the rim. It’s the same layout on the black dial on the white gold version whilst the chocolate dial on the rose gold model has graphic indices and Roman numerals. The manual-wind OPXXV chronograph calibre equips this Radiomir 1940 collection to bring the time and chronograph functions to life and provides a 55-hour power reserve. Price: 67,600 CHF (platinum) – 50,800 CHF (rose gold) – 52,900 CHF (white gold)

BREGUET – Les Volants de la Reine

Marie-Antoinette of Austria, Louis XVI’s wife and Queen of France, was a passionate admirer of both the watchmaker Abraham-Louis Breguet and dressmaker Rose Bertin who made her sometimes ostentatious outfits in the 1780s. Les Volants de la Reine watch embodies the expert union between mechanical genius and luxury couture. The oval white gold case looks like it’s swathed in glittering garb; approximately 466 brilliant-cut diamonds, 11 baguette-cut diamonds and 2 cushion-cut sapphires adorn the bezel, case, chapter ring and lugs tied in a bow. Two blue-toned “open tipped” hands tell the hours and minutes off-centre in the lower half whilst the Breguet medallion is showcased in the upper half of the opaline mother-of-pearl dial. The time functions are powered by the self-winding 586 calibre designed by the L’Abbaye factory in the heart of the Vallée de Joux. Price: 125,000 CHF
