MONTBLANC – Bohème Perpetual Calendar Jewellery

Few of the watch collections made exclusively for ladies have truly beautiful complications. There’s always something that’s cut back to the detriment of something else both in terms of mechanics and aesthetics. In the new watch collection designed in 2014 for women and women alone, Montblanc has unveiled a perpetual calendar teeming with stand-out features. The self-winding piece is brought to life by the in-house MB29.15 calibre which provides a 42-hour power reserve; its display is sophisticated, easy-to-read and balanced by four counters spread over the guilloché silver-tone dial (months and leap years at 12, day at 9, date at 3 and moon phase at 6 o’ clock) and two leaf-shape hands which track the hours and minutes; it is bejewelled and elegant with its 36mm rose gold case that glows with a halo of 60 white diamonds (0.9 carat) on the bezel and a crown glittering with a star-shape Montblanc diamond. Price: 22,300 CHF

Aquis Depth Gauge Chronograph

After successfully launching the Aquis Depth Gauge in 2013, Oris is back with a self-winding chronograph version. The patented depth gauge hasn’t changed: water goes into the thick sapphire crystal via a milled channel system at 12 o’ clock then comes into contact with air compressed by the dive to create a watermark that corresponds to yellow depth gauge indications on the black dial. The dial’s nickel indices and hands (hour and minutes) are coated in white Super-LumiNova® whilst the chronograph seconds tick by beneath the central seconds hand. The minutes and hours appear in two counters displayed at 12 and 6 o’ clock, the latter also displays the understated date. The self-winding 774 calibre nestles in the 48mm steel case topped by a rotating bezel with a graduated black ceramic ring. Price: 4,900 CHF

CHOPARD – Mille Miglia 2015 Race Edition

Founded in 1927, the legendary race had its 33rd outing from May 14th to 17th. Over 430 vintage cars built between 1927 and 1957 hit the road on an adrenalin-pumping adventure to Brescia. Chopard, official timekeeper and partner of the Mille Miglia, made the most of the magical event to devote a new limited edition to it (1000 available). The 43mm steel case surrounded by a black graduated bezel houses the COSC-certified 01.08C calibre providing a 60-hour power reserve. The self-winding movement brings the time and date functions to life on the red varnished dial. Applied indices and Arabic hour numerals have a luminescent coating and lie beneath spear-shape hour and minute hands and a phosphorescent-tipped central seconds hand. The date display stands at 3 o’ clock whilst the power reserve stretches from 8 to 10 o’ clock. Price: 6,200 CHF (steel)

Seamaster Bullhead “Rio 2016”

With the 27th Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro less than a year away (August 5th – 21st 2016), official timekeeper Omega has designed a limited edition in tribute to the international sporting event. Originally unveiled in 1969, this Seamaster earned its nickname among collectors from the “shield” shape of its case. The 43x43mm steel case houses the self-winding Omega 3113 calibre which brings to life the time, date and chronograph functions and 52-hour power reserve. The white dial is topped by a blue internal rotating bezel featuring a multi-colour minute scale; the hours, minutes and the chronograph’s red central seconds hand lie in the centre. The minute counter and its red hand lie at 12 o’ clock whilst you’ll find the small seconds at 6 o’ clock and the date display stands at 3 o’ clock. Price: 8,650 CHF

Women

“La fin du jour est femme” (the end of day is woman) wrote Paul Valéry (1871-1945). And yet, despite our respect for the French author and poet and with a modern view, you almost want to say that woman is woman by day and by night; every hour is hers for the taking. The self-winding Women model beautifully captures 24 hours in the life of a woman. Its rose gold double-stepped 40mm case glitters with two rows of diamonds. Its mother-of-pearl dial is divided into three. The minutes lie in the centre whilst the fan-shape retrograde seconds counter stands at 6 o’ clock. The top of the dial features a day/night indicator whose different shades of blue show the passing of time beneath a retrograde hour hand. The indicator is adorned by a bejewelled sky with a diamond moon and stars, yellow sapphire sun, yellow mother-of-pearl dots and bevelled white mother-of-pearl clouds. Price on request

Khaki Field

The bond between the brand founded in 1892 and the American armed forces, which it officially supplied in the 1920s, is so strong that the watches coming out of the Bienne workshops are still imbued with the same military soul. Khaki is a brown/green colour and the name of a strong fabric; Field is where soldiers set forth. The combination of these two words has produced a sturdy timepiece. The 40mm steel case houses a self-winding H-10 calibre which brings all the functions to life and provides an 80-hour power reserve. The hours appear as white Arabic numerals on the khaki dial featuring a central 24-hour scale surrounded by a detailed minute track split into 5-minute sections. Two diamond-shape luminescent hands display the time whilst the seconds are tracked by a white-tipped hand. Price: 675 CHF

CT60® automatique

This modern collection includes five 3-hand watches and pays a triple tribute to the past. Its name comes from the initials of the brand’s founder, Charles L. Tiffany. The number 60 is taken from the famous concept of the New York Minute which describes all the possibilities that can happen in 60 seconds. Last but not least, the model is inspired by the watch owned by US President Franklin D. Roosevelt. The CT60® has a 40mm case available in steel or rose gold. The sunburst dial comes in 4 colours (white, blue or taupe grey on the steel model, white or chocolate on the rose gold model) and is adorned by gold poudré numerals. Two baton-shape hands track the hours and minutes whilst a gold red-tipped central seconds hand glides over the gold-rimmed seconds scale on the chapter ring. The date appears in a display at 6 o’ clock. Price: 5,000 € (steel and leather) – 5,500 € (steel) – 12,600 € (rose gold)

ZENITH – Pilot Type 20 Squelette

This timekeeping masterpiece is as beautiful as it is light, it’s packed with mechanical, creative and artisan talents and is an ode to the past, namely the first foray into aeronautics so-dear to Zenith. This limited edition piece (5 available) is brought to life by the manual wind 5011K calibre which has been painstakingly openworked with a fretsaw and both sides can be admired through the two sapphire covers which hold it in place. This pocket watch movement powers the central hours and minutes with two openwork hands in blue-tone gold, small seconds at 9 o’ clock and 48-hour power reserve indicator at 3 o’ clock. The case is a true sapphire setting with fabulous measurements (60mm diameter) topped by a hand-engraved blue-enamelled gold bezel and fitted with a large ratcheted crown, a signature feature on pilot watches. The lugs linking the case to the strap have also been sculpted. Price: 200,000 CHF
