HARRY WINSTON – Premier Pearly Lace Automatic 36mm

Harry Winston – Premier Pearly Lace Automatic 36mm

If “the soul of a diamond is the light” as French author Joseph Joubert (1754-1824) wrote in his Pensées, then mother-of-pearl is the setting. The shimmering organic matter lights up gemstones and makes them shine brighter, just like the fabulous Premier Pearly Lace Automatic 36mm designed by Harry Winston.

As you’d expect of the brand founded by the so-called “king of diamonds”, its ladies’ watches have spell-binding dials. The artisans at Harry Winston have placed a painstakingly crafted layer of blue mother-of-pearl that’s approximately 0.20mm thick on the Premier Pearly Lace Automatic’s blue mother-of-pearl dial. Two silver spear-shape hands burst from the heart of the shimmering openwork bloom.

The time functions are brought to life by the self-winding HW2008 calibre inside the white gold case dazzling with 57 brilliant-cut diamonds.

ZENITH – Heritage Pilot Café Racer

The Heritage Pilot Café Racer by Zenith

Zenith is taking a break from the sky and returning to dry land: as the name suggests, Heritage Pilot Café Racer is inspired by the famous British motorbikes from the 1960s. The bikes were stripped back to basics (single seater, almost inexistent body, straight and low handlebar) to reach speeds of 100mph and their raw retro look oozes from the new model by Zenith.

The Heritage Pilot Café Racer has a sleek vintage steel 45mm case containing the self-winding El Primero 4069 calibre (50-hour power reserve) with “Café Racer Spirit” engraved on the titanium back.

Its textured slate grey dial bears an hour rim whose large Arabic numerals are coated in beige Super-LumiNova®. There are two vintage-style hour and minute hands whilst the seconds appear at 9. The chronograph seconds stand in the centre and the minute counter lies at 3.

JAQUET DROZ – Grande Seconde Dual Time

Jaquet Droz – Grande Seconde Dual Time

When you think of a “second time zone”, what always comes to mind is a busy dial drowning in counters and central hands. The watchmakers at Jaquet Droz have unveiled a more classic and incredibly stylish take on the second time zone to prove us wrong.

There are three versions of the new Grande Seconde Dual Time: silver, onyx or ivory Grand Feu enamel dial with a 43mm steel or rose gold case.

The time display is pure and simple whose functions and 65-hour power reserve are fuelled by the self-winding JD2663H24 calibre. Two dials, one off-centre at 12 and the other at 6, form the brand’s beloved figure of 8. The hours and minutes are tracked by two spear-shape hands gliding over Roman numerals. The large seconds, data display with hand and second time zone cluster together at 6.

Price: 15,200 CHF (steel) – 16,700 CHF (onyx) – 25,500 CHF (Grand Feu enamel)
