TUDOR – Fastrider Black Shield XDaviel

You can still be a sophisticated, manly, cool gentleman like Steve McQueen nowadays. Not sure? Introducing the XDaviel by Ducati. This motorbike blends super-charged motorcycle racing with cruiser style and stands out for its muscly machinery and streamlined contemporary design. Just like the Fastrider Black Shield, the new watch from the partnership between the Italian manufacturer and Tudor. These two beautiful machines share the same values and all-black option. White hands glide over snowy indices on the matt black dial. The strong contrast makes it easier to tell the time and short time measured using tri-compax and date displays at 4.30. Its matt black monobloc ceramic case (42mm) is fuelled by a self-winding chronograph movement. With a 46-hour power reserve on a leather or rubber strap, it will be with you wherever the road takes you. Price: 4’700 CHF. Dan Diaconu

TUDOR – Heritage Black Bay Black

The expression “third time’s a charm” has never been so apt! During the second half of 2015, the Heritage Black Bay collection welcomed a new arrival. Following in the footsteps of the burgundy model in 2012 and the blue one in 2014, the newcomer is dressed head to toe in black. It has the same signature features as its predecessors: inspiration from the Tudor Submariner from 1954, the famous “snowflake” hands designed in the late 1960s, the same hour display on the black dial. The rotating steel bezel with a matt black graduated ring tops the 41mm steel case. The self-winding Tudor 2824 calibre fuels a 38-hour power reserve and brings to life the hour/minute/second functions. The gold hands on the dial have a luminescent coating and glide along an hour rim adorned with gold bevelled indices and a gold minute track just like the 2012 version. Price: 2,950 CHF (leather) – 3,250 CHF (on steel). Sharmila Bertin

Pelagos

This is a timepiece that exudes the ocean and was made for the ocean: after its last outing in black, the Pelagos has wrapped its sturdy case in electric blue. The 42mm satin-finished titanium case sealed by a screwdown steel back houses the self-winding COSC-certified MT5612 movement made by Tudor. This incredibly powerful movement provides a 70-hour power reserve. The unidirectional rotating bezel with a white 60-minute scale on its matt blue ceramic ring rims the matt blue dial. Indices alternate between squares, rectangles and triangles on the blue dial illuminated by a white minute track. The hour markers have a luminescent coating as do the hour, minute and second hands bursting from the centre. The date appears instantly in a display at 3 o’ clock. Price: 4,200 CHF

North Flag

2015 is a landmark year for Genevan watchmaker Tudor. The company, which was founded in 1936 by Hans Wildorf (the founder of Rolex born in 1905), unveiled its first own brand calibre at Baselworld. This self-winding MT5621 movement has been entirely made by the brand and is COSC-certified. It brings to life the hours, minutes and seconds, date display (3 o’ clock) and power reserve indicator (approximately 70 hours). The new calibre has made its presence felt in the Tudor collections and nestles in a new timepiece’s edgy 40mm steel case. Its name brings to mind adventures on unchartered territory and Polar expeditions: North Flag. The matt black dial has white luminescent indices and hands. The minute track running around the chapter ring is also white. The bright yellow on the central seconds hand, 5 minute intervals and power reserve indicator provides a pop of colour. Price: 3’400 CHF (leather strap) – 3’500 CHF (steel bracelet)

Heritage Black Bay

Tudor, founded in 1946, has delved into its exciting history and been inspired to design the Heritage Black Bay, a watch which brings together the past and the future. As a matter of fact, its muses were several diving models dating from 1954, 1958 and 1969. From the powerful matt blue on the graduated rotating bezel to the “snowflake” hour, minute and second hands gliding over the black dial, the result is aesthetically impeccable. Water-resistant to depths of 200m, the 41mm steel case plays on polished and satin-finish surfaces; it houses a self-winding mechanical TUDOR 2824 movement which provides a 38-hour power reserve and brings the time functions to life. The silver-tone indices with a white luminescent coating on the dial are depicted by three distinct shapes (triangle at 12, rectangles at 3, 6 and 9 o’ clock and dots) which help the diver to tell the time. Price: 2’950 CHF (leather strap) – 3’250 CHF (on steel)

Heritage Ranger

Sometimes the watch world takes you back in time to when you were a child pouring over Jack London novels and picturing yourself on a sled being pulled along by enormous dogs like in The Call of the Wild. And now you’re all grown up with a racy, vintage and fantastically chic watch on your wrist: Tudor Heritage Ranger. The watch is a new twist on the 1967 model with a matt black domed dial and Arabic numerals coated in a luminescent substance for an antique look. The phosphorescent hands share the same pear shape as the original model. Its 41mm steel case houses an automatic movement to control the hands (hour, minute and second) and a 38 hour power reserve. Let your sense of adventure run wild with the different straps: caramel leather with rivets, camouflage fabric, tobacco leather or steel. Prices 2’700 CHF (steel on leather) – 2’800 CHF (steel on steel)
