PIAGET – Altiplano Chronographe

If grace came in the form of a watch, she would be called Altiplano. The clean lines and finesse epitomise Piaget’s expertise. The brand has broken two world records with this piece: the slimmest manual wind chronograph movement (4.65mm thick) and the slimmest case (8.24mm thick). The 683P calibre in the heart of the 41mm rose gold case brings to life the 50-hour power reserve, time functions (hours and minutes in the centre, small seconds at 6), chronograph (minute counter at 3, central seconds with flyback) and second time zone (counter at 9). These stylised and elongated black features lie on the silver-tone sunburst dial surrounded by a svelte bezel: slim baton hands, alternating long single and double indices, subtle minute track and counters all on a single dial. A design that is quite simply perfect. Price upon request

PIAGET – Black Tie inspiration vintage

Pop Art icon Andy Warhol (1928-1987), famous for his colourful screen prints of Mickey Mouse, Campbell soup and Marilyn Monroe among others, bought a Piaget watch whose case (square yet round) was as unique as the American artist himself in 1973. The cushion shape has returned to the Black Tie collection in the form of this vintage-style timepiece. Its large (40x45mm) white gold case has rounded corners and multi-stepped sides which surround the winding crown and create depth to draw you in. It has a wide brushed bezel around a black onyx dial. Two slim silver-tone hour and minute hands burst from the heart of the glossy chalcedony whilst the self-winding Piaget 534P calibre nestled in the case brings the timepiece to life. Price to be confirmed

PIAGET – Polo

This year the iconic Piaget Polo celebrates its 35th birthday. This is the ideal opportunity to get to know the legendary 1979 piece better in its modern rose gold finish. The curvy 43mm case plays on the bezel by alternating between satin-brushed and polished metal bars. Like a jewellery box, it contains the ultra-slim 880P self-winding mechanical calibre which provides a 50-hour power reserve. The in-house movement brings to life the time functions (hours and minutes in the centre of the dial and small seconds at 6 o’ clock), flyback chronograph (central seconds and 30 minute counter at 3 o’ clock), date (3 day display at 12 o’ clock) and second time zone (24 hour counter at 12 o’ clock). The baton indices, hands and sub-dial surrounds on the silver-tone dial are also in rose gold. This model is also available with a bezel paved with 42 brilliant-cut diamonds (1 carat). Price: 37,200 CHF – 47,800 CHF (diamond-set version)

PIAGET – A slimmer than slim Altiplano

What a champion Piaget! The Geneva-Neuchâtel manufacture has managed to create a timepiece that is even slimmer than an extra-slim, referred to as ultra-slim… To such an extent that it can declare urbi et orbi that its 38 mm Altiplano 900P model, that is only 3.65 mm thick, is nothing less than the “slimmest mechanical watch of all time”. A declaration, however, that is open to question. Specialists and bloggers picked up on the subject and began a relentless comparison of models, quibbling non-stop over the fact that there are a few more or a few less microns. Well, that’s what the world of watchmaking is sometimes like. As for us, we would prefer to try and answer the following question: is this variation of the Altiplano a technical and aesthetic success? The answer is yes. There’s no need for us to remind you of Piaget’s expertise in the field of everything extra-slim… expertise which is totally indisputable. The brand has been making calibres of this kind for over fifty years now. Among the 35 movements that it designed and developed in-house, 23 are extra-slim. It just goes to show! The 900P, equipped with 145 components, is as such perfectly in line with this.

PIAGET – Limelight Blooming Rose

“I look at a rose and I am calm,” wrote passionate romantic Victor Hugo. I don’t wish to tread on the famous French author’s toes by drawing on this quote, but I must say that I am looking at a rose and I am spellbound. But this is not just any rose; look at the queen of flowers blossoming, unfurling her diamond petals and opening her flower bud. It is an embellished watch exuding poetry. An invisible mechanism in the upper part of the white gold case enables the rose to turn 45 degrees to reveal either 4 or 8 diamond-set petals (269 brilliant-cut diamonds totalling 2.5 carats) to suit your mood. Beneath the black lacquer dial lies a quartz movement made by Piaget which brings the hour and minute hands to life. Its small diameter (34mm) and embellished black satin buckle strap adds an extra touch of elegance to this glittering, magical rose. Price: 44’400 CHF
