Omega’s first movement with a seal

Inseparable since GoldenEye in 1995, the Omega Seamaster and James Bond continue their adventures on the big screen this year. Indeed, the famous British secret agent finds the iconic watchmaker cut out for the big screen in No Time to Die, the 25th opus in the saga, due for release in April 2020. The British actor Daniel Craig who plays the spy for the 5th and last time, took part in designing this new Seamaster Diver 300M Edition 007 which will join the firm’s catalogue in February.
The time elements—hours, minutes and seconds—are delivered by the Omega 8806, a self-winding mechanical movement which provides 55 hours of power reserve and has Master Chronometer certification, a guarantee of resistance and reliability.
This Seamaster Diver 300M Edition 007 can be worn either with a Milanese mesh bracelet made of titanium or a NATO with dark brown, sand beige and medium grey stripes.

The black ceramic dial is covered with a PVD coating, also black, decorated with a spiral motif inspired by the gun barrel we find in the title sequence of every James Bond adventure. The open sword hour and minute hands are in yellow gold and coated with Super-LumiNova®, as are the central second hand, finished with a dash of red, and the indexes. In addition, the time marker at 12 o’clock is a reinterpretation of the spy’s family coat of arms. At 6 o’clock the number 7 on the date disc is in the 007 font.

Wearing a watch during sporting activities often poses a handicap rather than a pleasure. The weight hinders movement and the crown affects joints and ligaments in the wrist. Now, thanks to innovations developed by Omega with the help and advice of its ambassador, Northern Irish golf champion Rory McIlroy, sport and watchmaking have become one with the creation of a new model: the Seamaster Aqua Terra Ultra Light.
The Seamaster Aqua Terra Ultra Light is worn with a strap made of textured rubber with color stitching on the edges or fabric, both in black.

At Baselworld in 2005, a new piece by Omega drew onlookers to its stand: a watch named Seamaster Planet Ocean with a bezel, Arabic numerals for the hours and strap all colored bright orange and a water resistance up to a depth of 600 m.
14 years later, Omega has drawn inspiration from this color for two new models, a three-hand and a chronograph, both automatic with a date. However, the shade of this Seamaster Planet Ocean 600m Co-Axial Master Chronometer is more subtle and more reddish.
The 45.5 mm case of the chronograph is also made of steel. Its ceramized titanium dial is punctuated with two counters: the small seconds dial at 9 o’clock and the hour and minute counter at 3 o’clock. The date is located at 6 o’clock. These functions are regulated by the Omega 9900 caliber which offers the same power reserve as the model above. The same goes for the straps with one change to the colors of the NATO strap which combines four gray and orange stripes and one white stripe.

Created in 1949, the Trésor collection of the Biel/Bienne-based watchmaker Omega has recently experienced a revival. This beautiful renaissance has transformed it into a fully-fledged range comprising elegant yet classic models, aimed at men and women, incorporated into the De Ville product family. Released at the end of May and available in store in August, the new steel De Ville Trésor joins the ranks.
The polished steel case measures 40 mm in diameter and houses the Omega 8910 calibre, a manual-winding mechanical Master Chronometer-certified movement offering a power reserve of 72 hours. Its Geneva stripes can be seen through the transparent case back.
The De Ville Trésor also exists in an even more embellished version with a band of brilliant-cut diamonds set on the bezel.

The oceans cover 70% of our planet. However, it is estimated that over 75% of the deep seabed still remains to be explored. Every voyage to the Mariana Trench is an event in itself. Until now, its explored depth was 10,908 meters. This year, with the help of his high-tech submarine, Limiting Factor, Victor Vescovo descended to a record-breaking depth of 10,928 meters. During this dizzy descent into the cold, dark realm, Omega provided three Seamaster Planet Ocean Ultra Deep watches. Two of them were fastened to the articulated arms, the third was attached to a probe sent to collect data. All of them were subject to a pressure of 1500 bar.
After this historic dive, the Seamasters and their 8912 automatic calibers underwent ten days of strict testing within the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS) and all three passed the Master Chronometer tests.
All the technical innovations developed for the Seamaster Planet Ocean Ultra Deep will be used in future developments of the brand.
